Structured further training - General Practitioner 360
LMU further education and management program GP 360°
With the ongoing generational change in the GP sector, the number of clinically active doctors is decreasing, and with it the number of those who can competently represent general practice in research institutions, politics and society.
The LMU GP 360° training and leadership program was therefore launched in autumn 2017 with the aim of training excellent medical leaders for general practice with the potential to help shape the future of outpatient medicine in patient care, science and society.
Our offer for trainees in GP 360° includes the following:
a)
Structured clinical training in individually defined rotations at the LMU Clinic over the entire inpatient training period of 3 years. Subsequently, a further formal connection to the institute is possible during the outpatient GP training, so that the entire training to become a specialist in general medicine can be completed in accordance with the currently valid requirements as part of the program participation.
The clinical training stages include
- Internal medicine: 12 months
- Emergency room: 6 months
- Psychiatry: 6 months
- Elective: 6 months
- Clinician-scientist research section at the institute: 6 months
- Outpatient GP care (external): 24 months
b)
Implementation of a scientific project - from planning to publication.
c)
Qualification in medical leadership skills (including science, clinic, didactics, public relations, health policy, project management) through two-week seminars and "hands-on" training with assigned tasks (to the seminar program)
d)
Support for individual career planning (e.g. doctorate, Ph.D., habilitation)
e)
Collaboration in teaching and training (clinical case conferences, seminars, lectures)
f)
Mentoring by senior staff at the institute and by experienced colleagues in private practice
g)
Introduction to the Institute's local, national and international cooperation network (e.g. LMU Clinician Scientist Program, teaching practice network, science, professional representation, health policy)

It is possible to join the program twice a year, in April and October. We recommend that you take note of our job advertisements and submit an unsolicited application 6-12 months in advance. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate leadership qualities and have high potential for a career in clinical and academic general practice. Structured further training in general medicine is also possible via the KoStA further training associations: In numerous regions of Bavaria, general practitioners in private practice have joined forces with hospitals and other specialists authorized to provide further training to form further training associations in order to offer young doctors a complete solution for the entire further training period.
