Doctor and entrepreneur - Learn how to run your practice!

Elective subject in the 2nd stage of studies - can be taken in all semesters, also as a voluntary additional course!

Closing event 'Doctor and entrepreneur'

Learn the path to self-employment at an early stage! The "Doctor and Entrepreneur" course prepares you for the professional economic, legal and ethical challenges of entrepreneurial activity as a doctor in private practice under the guidance of experienced experts from business and practice (Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, bank, tax, medical law, marketing, established colleague, medical ethicist).

In small groups, you will develop a complete concept for a medical practice. You will be supported by former business executives. They are your coaches and know what is important when planning a business.

'The Doctor and Entrepreneur course at LMU gave me an insight into outpatient healthcare and the role of a doctor as an entrepreneur. Through seminars with various players in the healthcare sector, such as the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and apoBank, I gained in-depth knowledge about setting up a practice and developed my own concept for setting up a practice as part of a team. The course really enriched me in terms of content and people and made me enthusiastic about setting up a practice.'Ruben

Learning objectives


  • Providing sound basic knowledge and a realistic idea of the entrepreneurial opportunities and requirements of setting up a practice.
  • Encouragement to consider the possibility of setting up a practice in the future. Reducing possible fears of setting up a practice.
  • Promoting project work and project presentation skills.
