High-grade insufficiencies of the mitral and tricuspid valves are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. In our ageing society, mitral and tricuspid valve insufficiencies are on the rise. As the majority of patients with this disease are older and often have relevant concomitant diseases, surgical treatment can be associated with an increased risk. For this reason, minimally invasive, catheter-based therapy is becoming increasingly common for these patients in order to minimize the risk of surgery.

The aim of the working group is to develop and establish interventional treatment alternatives for the relevant mitral and tricuspid valve insufficiency.

Another focus is on research into innovative treatment methods for patients with heart failure.

As a certified mitral valve center of the DGK (German Society of Cardiology), we meet all requirements to participate in numerous national and international studies. These include treatment with the MitraClip system, Pascal system and catheter-based mitral and tricuspid valve replacement. For heart failure monitoring and therapy optimization, we also offer the new V-LAP system and the Relieve HF/V-Wave atrial shunt as part of studies.
